ARION 470 test report: more power with less fuel
The profi magazine test report in issue 04/2023 p.16-24 describes the ARION 470 as an agile diesel-saver.
Compact all-rounder with impressive output: the ARION 470 was tested in all operational situations for the profi tractor test. In the overall assessment, the ARION was 3% below average thanks to its low diesel consumption of 270 g/kWh. At 40 km/h on the road, the tractor came in at a remarkable 16% below the average of machines measured prior to this test, with fuel consumption of 351 g/kWh*. So despite its compact 190 l tank, the ARION 470 is a reliable choice even for longer periods of use.
Since its launch in 2014, the ARION has become a firm favourite with CLAAS customers. In recognition, it was comprehensively updated in 2021. Thanks to its versatility and smart features, it's hard to imagine farming without it now.
ARION cuts consumption without compromising performance
The engine has a rated output of 103 kW/140 hp and a maximum output of 107 kW/145 hp – but with CLAAS Power Management (CPM) delivering an extra boost, this can be increased to 155 hp. With a lift capacity of around 5 t across the entire lifting range, the tractor outperforms the manufacturer's specified values.
The power of the ARION 470 is matched by its agility – no wonder, given its intrinsically compact dimensions. Its small turning circle of 10.3 m and soft front axle suspension scored well in the profi test. The fully equipped ARION 470 weighs in at only 5.76 t. With a permissible total weight of 9 t, that leaves a generous 3.2 t payload. The basic ARION 470 weighs just 5.3 t, achieving an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 34 kg/hp.
And then of course there's comfort. The PANORAMIC cab was singled out for praise in the profi test for visibility and interior space. The cab suspension ensures a smooth ride and the ARION 470 has even mastered quiet operation: a low 72.9 dB(A) under full load was recorded in the profi test.
